Reveel – Turn brochures & paper maps into digital guidebooks and audio guides
AI Startup Stories
During phase one in the INCREDIT-project, three startups were supported by Hanken School of Economics (Institution of Entrepreneurship, Management & Organization): Casvugen OY, Reveel and Justice4.0. We have received a lot of questions about the startups in the form of “What happened later”? Therefore, below follows a short description of how Reveel developed during and after the collaboration.
Reveel
The startup. Reveel describes its mission as “modernizing visitor experiences”. They offer a modern AI-based platform for enhancing the visitor experience in the world’s destinations. Through the platform, the customer can transform paper maps into interactive digital guidebooks that will open up straight in their visitors’ phones with just one scan. With Reveel Guidebooks, destinations and attractions can display all the information they wish their visitor to see – opening times, history, fun facts or simply show how to get around through the interactive map. Reveel automatically translates all of the content into 28 global languages, and a personalized AI chatbot can answer visitor’s questions. It is also possible to create smart digital tours that guide visitors to each point of interest. With the Reveel- pricing model, destinations can say goodbye to the expensive digitalization projects of the past – the monthly fee of using Reveel costs less than printing paper maps, saving on both expenses and paper waste. The collaboration.Reveel started its collaboration with the INCREDIT-project during a course in Business Development & Internationalization at Hanken School of Economics. Collaboration took part during the period 01.04.2023 – 30.06.2023. The team consisting of four persons were led by CEO Sebastian Mellblom. By this time Reveel was labeled Step Technologies Ltd. and they were working on building their business model. Hanken and Reveel collaborated around six business areas: Market analysis • Competitor analysis • Business model SWOT-analysis • Customer value analysis • Customer profiling • Business execution strategies.
The outcome. Reveel has managed to gain a good foothold on the market. They have for example become the official digital solution for Helsinki tourism and established long-term business relationships with multiple tourism stakeholders, such as UNESCO-sites, museums, churches and hotels. The startup has also begun to establish traction in Spain, and visitors to the City of Estepona can now use Reveel to discover the city and its secrets. In addition, in early 2024 the firm’s CEO Sebastian Mellblom was awarded a €20 000 scholarship for entrepreneurship from the Anders Wall foundation, and venture capitalists have invested around €650 000 in the firm. Reveel is therefore currently intensively working on scaling their business to reach an international market.
