INCREDIT project has received funding from the European Union’s EIT HEI research and innovation programme under grant agreement.
PROJECT REF.: 3113-A2308 HEI IVAP
COHORT-2 is composed of 26 projects, involving 147 HEIs and 147 non-academic organisations (companies, research centres, public authorities and associations), benefiting from maximum funding of over EUR 31 million. The well-balanced distribution of organisations shows that the initiative achieved its goal – creating synergies between industry and HEIs to boost innovation and entrepreneurship in Europe.
As part of COHORT-3, INCREDIT is collaborating with many COHORT-2 initiatives and especially, the C-Accelerate project that focuses on increasing the innovation and entrepreneurial capacity in higher education in the fields of the arts and creative practices.
The Deep Tech Talent Initiative is a pioneering programme that aims to skill one million people within European deep tech fields over the next three years. Deep Tech innovations – cutting-edge technology solutions combining fields of science and engineering in the physical, biological and digital spheres – are indispensable in creating solutions to the most pressing global challenges. However, Europe lacks the talent and skilled labour force necessary to properly leverage the new technologies to enable its green and digital transition.
The EIT aims to address this gap, in line with the European Commission’s New European Innovation Agenda, by developing a strong deep tech talent pool across all Member States. As Europe’s largest innovation ecosystem, the EIT is best placed to mobilise its network of 3 400+ partners and 70+ hubs across Europe to develop state-of-the-art deep tech education programmes. The new initiative not only ensures the development of a skilled labour force but also the retention of high-growth companies active in the deep tech fields to maintain and expand their operations in Europe.
In October 2022, EIT launched the Pledge for Deep Tech Talents – a vehicle for partners and sponsors to join the initiative and contribute to the development and delivery of its courses and training.
The Pledge unites public and private organisations, industry representatives and champions, academic partners, education providers, and Member States to support the initiative. It will also create synergies with other EU programmes and Agencies.
