D4.1 – Exploring & Developing Additional Deep-Tech Competences (Phase 1)

This Deliverable Report (4.1) aims to provide a summary of the actions undertaken particularly at Aalto University in relation towards the development of additional deep tech competences in Aalto’s new experimental and entrepreneurial space, Aalto Works (now known as Viima, but referred on its former name to K3 in the whole report). The purpose, in Phase 1 was to explore and plan initial steps towards making deep tech, and deep tech entrepreneurship, a more “permanent” fixture of K3. By this we mean, 1) exploring ways to ensure more sustainable pathways towards continuing student and staff activities within deep tech entrepreneurial spaces after the conclusion of Phase 2 of INCREDIT, and 2) finding ways for collaboration between INCREDIT and other similar, existing projects and initiatives within K3. Moreover, as K3 now houses Aalto Design Factory, Aalto Entrepreneurship Society, Aalto Ventures Program and some Engineering Research Groups, the purpose was to explore possible synergies that could be achieved with the rest of the partner organizations. K3 was opened in March 2023, and as such, the space and the partner organizations are still getting to know each other and develop possible partnerships.
