Experiences gathered during INCREDIT compiled to an Open Education Resource

During review meeting in May at Aalto, experiences from student and faculty training sessions were shared by all consortium members. The most essential things to understand about generative AI based on consortium members experiences from organizing and participating in practice-oriented workshops and training sessions throughout the INCREDIT project have now been crystalized into two poster “Understanding Generative AI: The Building Blocks” and “Understanding Generative AI: Prompting”. These posters have been published as open access  learning materials with accompanying Teacher’s Guide.

“We hope that these posters with their lively and fun illustrations help teachers and students alike to get a feeling that it is possible to master these technologies and understand how they work,” says Mikaela Krohn, project employee for INCREDIT at Hanken School of Economics who has authored and supervised the work on creating these posters.

Understanding Generative AI posters are licensed under Creative Commons license CC BY-SA-NC 4.0, published in Library of Open Educational Resources and indexed worldwide to all libraries educational resource search under keywords like AI and generative artificial intelligence.  To download the materials go to https://aoe.fi/#/materiaali/4079

INCREDIT held on 22-23 May its phase 2 consortium meeting at the Design Factory of Aalto University in Finland. The meeting, attended by partners from UMU, VAMK, HANKEN, UNIR & Aalto, started with an interesting exchange of experiences and quick summary of key performance indicators, results, milestones and upcoming deadlines, as well as a review of each HEI’s activities and initiatives they have carried out in Phase 2.

We followed with a review of each work package in which the 5 WP leaders led discussions on the KPIs, the deliverables associated with that WP, different actions or concerns regarding the work and a brief discussion and question round.

The meeting ended with a discussion on possible future collaboration opportunities, in the framework of Horizon Europe and Erasmus+ among others.

In addition, the IDBM Impact Gala, the annual final event that gathers students, faculty, alumni, and industry professionals to showcase the work students have achieved as part of their IDBM Industry Project Course, was held on 24 May.

AI Startup Stories

During phase one in the INCREDIT-project, three startups were supported by Hanken School of Economics (Institution of Entrepreneurship, Management & Organization): Casvugen OY, Reveel and Justice4.0. We have received a lot of questions about the startups in the form of “What happened later”? Therefore, below follows a short description of how Justice4-0 developed during and after the collaboration.

Justice 4.0

The startup JUSTICE4.0 aimed to create a first of its kind All-In-One Virtual Dispute Ecosystem. The solution will have the ability to resolve legal disputes without the need to travel. It would also be possible to access all the dispute resolution services from the comfort of customers’ own privacy, at their home, office, or even in the car as long as they would have access to the internet. Filling, defending or tracking a claim would be done online in real-time, with a simplified electronic process. Using the latest AI software, JUSTICE4.0 designed a new solution named LadyJustice AI designed to assist users with legal research, understanding legal disputes, finding solutions and guidance in implementation of the solutions, and it’s POC is ready and focusing on rental disputes in Finland. The company website is currently under re-construction.

The collaboration JUSTICE4.0 started its collaboration with the INCREDIT-project during a course in Business Development & Internationalization at Hanken School of Economics. Collaboration took part during the period 01.04.2023 – 30.06.2023. By then, the three- person team was led by the Co- Founder Frederick Kyle. Hanken and JUSTICE4.0 collaborated around six business areas: Market research • Competitor analysis • SWOT-analysis • Customer value analysis • Customer profiling • Business execution strategies.

The outcome The founders experienced that the business model was to be revisited and thus they are currently in the process of re-branding the company and sub-projects. This process has brought a lot of challenges. However, the team has decided to keep fighting and bring their business to market. As described by Natasha:

We have a passion for law (Natasha de Koker, co-founder)

By collaborating with a group of experts, the founders are now aiming to build a business model making the solution more approachable, thus creating a B2B and a B2C service offering. Through LadyJustice AI, JUSTICE4.0 will be able to meet the needs and demands of two very different customer segments. The team feels confident in being able to launch a new business model around mid-2024.

The Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics together with the Department of Informatics held a workshop on generative AI on May 8th, 2024.

The workshop was aimed at students at the business school, and offered guidance on how to use AI-tools for students. Furthermore, the workshop also gave students an opportunity to share their perspectives and experiences of generative AI with researchers and teachers at the two departments.

Workshop Highlights included:

– Exploration of various techniques for prompting generative AI

– Insights from current and future application areas of AI-tools

– Discussion on potential career impact for business students

AI Startup Stories

During phase one in the INCREDIT-project, three startups were supported by Hanken School of Economics (Institution of Entrepreneurship, Management & Organization): Casvugen OY, Reveel and Justice4.0. We have received a lot of questions about the startups in the form of “What happened later”? Therefore, below follows a short description of how Reveel developed during and after the collaboration.

Reveel

The startup. Reveel describes its mission as “modernizing visitor experiences”. They offer a modern AI-based platform for enhancing the visitor experience in the world’s destinations. Through the platform, the customer can transform paper maps into interactive digital guidebooks that will open up straight in their visitors’ phones with just one scan. With Reveel Guidebooks, destinations and attractions can display all the information they wish their visitor to see – opening times, history, fun facts or simply show how to get around through the interactive map. Reveel automatically translates all of the content into 28 global languages, and a personalized AI chatbot can answer visitor’s questions. It is also possible to create smart digital tours that guide visitors to each point of interest. With the Reveel- pricing model, destinations can say goodbye to the expensive digitalization projects of the past – the monthly fee of using Reveel costs less than printing paper maps, saving on both expenses and paper waste. More about the firm here: www.reveel.guide/

The collaboration.Reveel started its collaboration with the INCREDIT-project during a course in Business Development & Internationalization at Hanken School of Economics. Collaboration took part during the period 01.04.2023 – 30.06.2023. The team consisting of four persons were led by CEO Sebastian Mellblom. By this time Reveel was labeled Step Technologies Ltd. and they were working on building their business model. Hanken and Reveel collaborated around six business areas: Market analysis • Competitor analysis • Business model SWOT-analysis • Customer value analysis • Customer profiling • Business execution strategies.

The outcome. Reveel has managed to gain a good foothold on the market. They have for example become the official digital solution for Helsinki tourism and established long-term business relationships with multiple tourism stakeholders, such as UNESCO-sites, museums, churches and hotels. The startup has also begun to establish traction in Spain, and visitors to the City of Estepona can now use Reveel to discover the city and its secrets. In addition, in early 2024 the firm’s CEO Sebastian Mellblom was awarded a €20 000 scholarship for entrepreneurship from the Anders Wall foundation, and venture capitalists have invested around €650 000 in the firm. Reveel is therefore currently intensively working on scaling their business to reach an international market.

Therefore, below follows a short description of how CasvuAI developed during and after the collaboration.

CasvuAI

The startup CasvuAI (Casvugen OY) is as a firm pioneering AI within the field of content marketing. The company’s business concept is to provide businesses with a cost-effective, heavily automatized, time-saving solution for creating high-quality marketing content in a couple of minutes. Based on current market research, they have found that CasvuAI has the potential to reform the marketing content creation process with significant personnel cost and time savings without compromising content quality. More about the firm here: https://casvu.ai/

The collaboration CasvuAI was supported mainly during the period 18.08.2023 – 31.12.2023, and the team consisting of five persons were led by CEO Anttu Koistinen. When starting collaborating with the INCREDIT-project, CasvuAI was in a development phase. They had been working on the platform for 6 months and were in the process of early MVP- testing. They aimed to launch the product in Q1 2024. Hanken and CasvuAI collaborated around six business areas: Financial applications • Investor management and networks • Sales management practices • Test panels • Business modelling • Business reference cases.

The outcome During fall 2023, Casvu.ai received funding of €50 000 from Business Finland, launched their website, tested the product by performing workshops with various customers, developed a customer base in Finland, and also started to identify and collaborate with customers in Sweden and Germany. In general, business development is going well. As expressed by Anttu:

Business is going well, we don’t see much of our competition (Anttu Koistinen, CEO)

Collaboration between the INCREDIT-project (Hanken) and Casvu.ai will continue during the second phase of the project. Here, the collaboration will change character and mainly include five business areas: Financial application development • Investor identification, selection and communication • Education and pedagogics development • Strategic customer management • Market analysis.

On 25 April, the INCREDIT project was part of the international conference on technology, UNIR Innovation Day Miami 2024, organised by the International University of La Rioja (UNIR) and MIU-City University Miami, at the Manna Common Corporate space in Downtown Miami, Florida.
